The Home4U Scheme covers the letting of most social housing in the North Hertfordshire District and is managed by the North Hertfordshire Housing Partnership (North Herts Council and settle Housing Association).

Social housing in North Hertfordshire is owned and managed by registered providers, which are mostly housing associations. North Herts Council no longer owns any housing stock.

For Flexicare accommodation please contact settle and/or First Garden Cities Homes direct who manage these type of homes. If you are a social housing tenant you can also register at Exchange Locata to mutual exchange (swap home with another tenant).

Properties that are available for rent will be advertised each week on this website. You must then tell us which properties you are interested in. This process is known as bidding. You may only bid for a property if your application has been accepted onto our Common Housing Register.  If you haven't already joined Home4U, you will need to do so before you can express an interest in the properties we advertise.  By registering for Home4U, you are applying to join our Common Housing Register.

There is a very high demand in North Hertfordshire for social housing.  Although in North Hertfordshire the costs of buying a home or renting a home or renting a room are high, we recommend to all applicants on the Home4U scheme that you explore all your other housing options as well as bidding for social housing through this scheme.
